EVA Resin

EVA Resin Material Characteristics & Uses

EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) resin, also known as EVA Copolymer, is a thermoplastic polymer that is made from a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It is a great material for custom injection molding. It is a flexible, lightweight material that can be easily processed and shaped into various forms. EVA resin is known for its good impact strength, flexibility, and resistance to extreme temperatures, and has a wide variety of uses. It is also a good electrical insulator and has good chemical resistance among a plethora of other advantages.

EVA Resin Applications

EVA resin is an extremely versatile material. It is commonly used for applications such as:

EVA Resin Advantages

EVA resin is an elastomeric polymer that produces rubber-like materials that are known for their soft and flexible properties. Other EVA resin advantages include:

  • UV Resistant
  • Water Resistant
  • Stress-Crack Resistant
  • Chemical Resistant
  • Excellent Processability & Transparency
  • Good Insulator
  • Stays Tough & Durable at Low Temperatures

EVA Resin Disadvantages

Even though EVA resin is an extremely versatile material with many different advantages, it does have some disadvantages, such as it is:

  • Difficult to Bond
  • Flammable
  • Low Strength/Stiffness
  • High Thermal Expansion

Is EVA Resin Toxic?

No, EVA resin is generally considered to be non-toxic when used in normal applications, but it can cause adverse effects if not handled or used properly. If you have any concerns about the safety of EVA resin or any other chemical substance, it’s always best to consult with experts.

EVA resins that are used in food contact applications should be compliant with the relevant food safety regulations, and It’s important to check the specific grade of EVA resin and make sure it is considered food grade. Many EVA Resins are considered a food-grade material, but not all of them.
