Engineered Resins are used for durable goods and many military and industrial applications. We work with engineering resin manufacturers to develop special purpose resins and applications.

Most of the plastic injection molding materials used at PMC can be engineered with additives such as glass, talc and minerals.

Engineering Resins Commonly Used at PMC

ABS Resin

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene offers excellent surface appearance, strength & stiffness. ABS resin also has good toughness, low creep, excellent dimensional stability & chemical resistance. It is versatile and easy to process.

Acetal Copolymer (POM)

Acetal polyoxymethylene copolymer exhibits extremely low wear as well as good rigidity, toughness and dimensional stability. Its wear and friction properties are also easily modified with additives better than the homopolymer.

Acetal Homopolymer

Acetal polyoxymethhylene homopolymer exhibits low wear as well as good rigidity, toughness and dimensional stability. Its wear and friction properties are easily modified with additives.

Acrylic (PMMA)

Acrylic polymethyl methacrylate is a common transparent thermoplastic alternative to glass as well as an economical alternative to polycarbonate when extreme strength is not a requirement.

Acrylic (SMMA)

Styrene methyl methacrylate copolymer is a stiff, tough and durable resin. Its ease of processing, versatility and durability make it an economical solution for a variety of applications.

Acrylic PVC

Acrylic PVC offers excellent impact strength, chemical resistance and extensibility, as well as low water absorption.

ASA Resin

Acrylonitrile styrene acrylate is a thermoplastic alternative to acrylonitrile butadiene styrene used widely in the automotive industry due to its strong weather resistance, UV resistance and mechanical properties.

EVA Resin

Ethylene vinyl acetate is an elastomeric polymer producing rubber-like materials notable for their softness and flexibility. The material has low-temperature toughness, waterproof properties, resistance to UV radiation and stress-crack resistance suitable for electrical applications.

HDPE Copolymer Resin

High-density polyethylene copolymer has excellent processability and balanced end-use properties similar to HDPE. It is commonly used for blow-molding large parts that demand outstanding physical performance.

HDPE Resin

High-density polyethylene is a thermoplastic made from petroleum with a high strength-to-density ratio. It is a commonly recycled material used in the production of plastic bottles, plastic lumber, corrosion-resistant piping and geomembranes.

LCP Resin

Liquid crystal polymers are highly inert and nonreactive as well as highly resistant to fire, chemicals and weathering.

LDPE Resin

Low-density polyethylene is a thermoplastic made from monomer ethylene with excellent corrosion resistance. This highly recyclable material is commonly used for various containers, bottles, plastic bags and molded laboratory equipment.

PAI Resin

Polyamide-imides are amorphous polymers with exceptional mechanical, thermal and chemical resistant properties. This strong material is used extensively in wire coatings.

PAS Resin

Polyarylsulfone is a stable thermoplastic that is resistant to high and low temperatures, is chemical and solvent resistant, and has excellent impact strength.

PBTR Resin

Polybutylene terephthalate is a thermoplastic polymer commonly used as an insulator in electrical applications. It is resistant to solvents, heat resistant, mechanically strong, and can be treated to be made flame retardant to make it noncombustible.

PC+Acrylic Resin

PC+Acrylic offers high impact strength and excellent flow. It’s commonly used in retail products, food packaging and electronics housings.

PC+PET Resin

PC+PET is an ultra tough resin. It’s chemical resistant, non-hygroscopic and resistant to stress cracking.

PEEK Resin

PEEK carbon fiber material is ideal for components where thermal, chemical, and combustion properties are critical for performance.

PEI Resin

Polyetherimide is a thermoplastic with similar chariacteristics to PEEK. PEI is a cost-effective PEEK alternative but has a lower impact strength and usable temperature.

PES Resin

Polyethersulfone is a thermoplastic polymer similar to PSU. It is also very tough and exhibits exceptional stability at high temperatures.

PET Resin

PET is a clear, strong and lightweight plastic belonging to the polyester family. PET is the world’s most common packaging choice for foods and beverages.

PETG Resin

Polyethylene terephthalate is the most common thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family. It is used in food and liquid containers, thermoforming, clothing fibers and engineering resins.

PPS Resin

PPS offers a number of beneficial characteristics including resistance to chemicals such as acids, alkalis, bleaches.

PSU Resin

Polysulfone is a thermoplastic polymer used in specialty applications and is a superior replacement for polycarbonates. It is very tough and exhibits exceptional stability at high temperatures.

PUR Resin

Polyurethane is a widely used polymer in applications such as high-resilience foam seating, durable elastomeric wheels and tires, rigid foam insulation panels, high performance adhesives, surface coatings, and sealants.

PVC, Flexible

Flexible polyvinyl chloride is commonly used in plumbing, electrical cable insulation, inflatable products, imitation leather and signage.

PVC, Rigid

Rigid polyvinyl chloride is commonly used in piping, bottles, non-food packaging and cards such as membership or bank cards.

SAN Resin

Styrene acrylonitrile resin is a copolymer plastic commonly used in place of polystyrene due to its greater thermal resistance.

TPE Resin

Thermoplastic elastomer has both thermoplastic and elastomeric properties. It is easy to use in manufacturing, especially injection molding.
