Advantages ABS resin is one of the most widely-used engineering thermoplastics. It offers excellent surface appearance, strength & stiffness. ABS resin also has good toughness, low creep, excellent dimensional stability & chemical resistance. It is versatile and easy to process.

Each of the 3 monomers in ABS resin provide different, important properties:

  • Acrylonitrile: Hardness, Chemical Resistance & Heat Resistance

  • Styrene: Easy Processing, Strength & Gloss

  • Butadiene: Toughness & Impact Resistance

DisadvantagesThe disadvantages of ABS resin include:

  • Poor Weathering Resistance

  • Moderate Heat, Moisture & Chemical Resistance

  • Flammable with High Smoke Generation
